have u seen the drama on twitter regarding tnd and a photo of her geck & skink together

Oh jeez, she put the gecko & skink together…???

I’ve been M.I.A. but I’m slowly catching up on Taylor stuff and yikes, I’m not a reptile person but don’t skinks eat gecko’s?  Yikes, Taylor, Yikes.  I wouldn’t say that was worth the risk for a twitter photo.

I like that your criticism post for Nicole isn’t cruel; you don’t call her a bitch or other things that other callout posts tend to do. Your criticisms are honest and pointed but not mean, just necessary and truthful. I appreciate that and thanks for keeping information circulating.

I do get heated sometimes, especially on that one turtle post I made but I do try my best to remain civil and let the facts do what they will.  It’s just unfortunate that these facts are relatively negative and I really hate that, it’s really just such a waste, I think.  For her to do the things she does and how she does them.

I can sit here and hope she’ll step up her game but I’ve been following along with her for so long that I really don’t believe she will be changing anytime soon.

Every now and then I get a message asking for youtuber suggestions.  And I generally forget to offer said suggestions—-  So I’m going to compile a list of generally aesthetically similar youtubers that I find both relaxing and informative.

This is a mix of;  fish, reptile, exotic, nature, & plant youtube channels.

  • ***SerpaDesign (terariums/viviariums, freshwater fish,  informative diy’s, regular contests, relaxing)
  • ***Emzotic  (exotic animal educator, reptiles, misc. creature features)
  • Justin Grimm  (terrarium/vivarium, frogs, hasn’t uploaded in 4 years)
  • Kamp Kenan (Exotic reptile conservationist, Tortoises mostly, fantastic sanctuary, passionate and educated)
  • ***Solid Gold Aquatics (Goldfish mom, mostly butterfly telescopes, educational videos, went on a trip to Japan through a tv show, redoing her fish garage)
  • ***Pecos Hank  (No animals but helps critters cross the road frequently, tornado/storm chaser, educated and passionate, helps those in need when possible, beautiful beautiful videos, titty clouds)
  • ***Pedro the Budgie (An older couple and their pet parakeet/budgie Pedro, talking bird, occasional bird care, cute cute cute they love this bird so much)
  • ***Rachel O’leary (Fish pimp, importer, nano species, mowhawk, once co-wrote a book on nano species, sells fish, very educated my go to when I don’t know much about a certain nano fish)
  • Pektec (Fish, occasional steampunk, fantastic and frequent reviews, educational videos, tends to stay in the nano range of tank/fish size, daughter started a salt water tank)

***Are my personal favorites and I wait impatiently for every new upload

Hey! For small animals I recommend:
ErinsAnimals – deals with rabbits and hamsters, gives proper care advice

BudgetBunny – deals with rabbits, gives care advice and also some cheap enrichment ideas.

HammyLux – hamsters, proper care videos, tutorials on some hamster toys

Skinnypigs1 – guinea pigs and skinny pigs, care videos, advice, some rants here and there all about pet care. She has a rabbit but not many videos on him, still receiving proper care though.

Valeria’s Zoo – rescues and keeps guinea pigs

Sugar & Spice Piggies – guinea pigs, care, and cute videos!

Carislittlepiggies – guinea pigs, legit has a guinea pig room, proper care videos

Piggie Palace – guinea pigs and rabbits (some dog videos), I don’t recommend keeping rabbits or pigs outside but she honestly takes care of them well (like instead of a hutch, a shed), keeps them cool, etc. care videos.

Taylor Nicole Dean is an owner of mostly tanks. She makes many care and feeding vids of axolotls, hedgehogs, fish, and more!

Hello friend!  I appreciate the effort to add to my list, I do!!  But I do not suggest Taylor Nicole Dean.  Check the TND Critical tag for my reasoning’s.

This is why I can never get a good picture of Penny. The second I approach her tank, she stares at me and then stares pointedly at the floor like “Ma, I see no snails here. Fix it.”

Oooooh, I love the decor.

And the puff baby too of course.  <3

oh man galaxies are pricey, but they’re so freaking pretty,,

I know, I love them so much.

I’m going to check another store some time to see what they price them as because I still really want some.  But I also plan on hopefully accumulating around eight….  And like…..  Your girl can’t drop $80+ on some fish ya feel,,,

If all else fails I really liked those glowlight tetra’s and they’ve been on my fish list for a while now too.

@finsandattitude said you might be able to help me! I was wondering how old an average goldfish would live up to? I’ve had them at lots of different ages but 8-9 were the oldest I’ve had

It depends on the type!  8-9 sounds very reasonable to me ^-^

But generally speaking;  The further away from the original carp like structure a goldfish takes the shorter their lifespan.  So a comet would live possibly significantly longer than lets say a bubble eye orrr a ranchu.

I’m pretty certain I’ve watched a Solid Gold Aquatics video of her talking about it, and her butterfly telescopes averaging 6-7ish years each? But don’t quote me on that ^-^;;

Either way it sounds like you had a good long time with your babies.

I know the dip sticks are pretty terrible, I’ve got a nice liquid test kit on the way, but for scale, my truly monstrous marimo (with Amano shrimp haha). Any guess on how old it is? I really have no idea and would love to hear people’s opinions!

why did you did you give your moss ball steroids

Who is she ???

Okay for real though, where did you purchase this?  Due to popularity some marimo’s are actually fake which mayyyy be a possibility.

But either way what a beauty I’m so jealous.

She’s real! I work at a pet store and I had a customer tearing down their old tank and brought me two this size! I only took the one home. She’s had a few brown spots that have cleared up and unless she’s reeaaaaaally convincing felt, I’m 98% sure she’s real 🙂

I’m so in love, what a good round girl.  Hard telling how old she might be but I hope you get a couple more years out of her.   She looks to be a great addition to any tank and I’m sure any and all shrimpies will appreciate her. ♡

Hey, please consider taking down that post with the video about the taylor nicole dean turtle situation. It looks like the op is getting a lot of anon hate which they don’t deserve…

If any of my followers have been sending the OP anon hate, I ask that they unfollow me right now. I do not tolerate that sort of behavior on my behalf, it is absolutely unacceptable. OP definitely doesn’t deserve any hate, they didn’t know all the complicated legalities and ethics surrounding the turtle situation and that’s not their fault.

However, I will not be taking the post down as I stand by what I said. If any of my followers or anyone I follow is caught sending hate, I will block them immediately, but I stand by my own reblog and my own comment and I will not be taking it down.

I would like to thank you because you have improved my life greatly. I used to impulse buy animals because of my depression (and also because Taylor Nicole Dean made it seem okay). When I found your blog, everything you said about her and her impulse buying made sense to me. Now I find happiness in taking care of the animals I have and no longer feel the need to fill the void with buying animals. You are a wonderful person!!! Thank you.

Oh my I really don’t want to take credit for  all that– But thank you, I’m glad that I somehow guided you to a better path.  I think its a very large problem in the pet keeping community.  (Though I see it most often in the reptile keeping community.  There’s nothing wrong with a collection of course so long as you care for them all.  But I think for some it gets to the point where some are just crossing off a list going from one animal to the next and to the next for the sake of having the animal.  But this goes with all animals, fish included. )

Any animal is a commitment and a life that is now in your hands.  You control their world.  You are responsible for them and must ensure they are as happy and healthy for as long as possible.

It’s always a fun and exciting event to get a new pet, but sometimes I feel people get so into it that they forget to appreciate the animals they already have.  Which is really unfortunate and saddens me greatly.

So I am so happy that you have found the joy in caring for and appreciating the friends already in your care.  So so happy I’m so happy for you and your animals.  I can’t stress that enough.  I wish you and them luck, health and a long happy life together.
